The Saluda Church of God was organized on May 16th, 1965. Initially, the church had 10 members and met in an old skating rink before moving into an old storefront. In July 1965, Rev. William Harold Miller became the first pastor of the church.
On April 16th, 1970, under the leadership of Rev. James Carter, the church purchased the property on which the current facility is located. In 1972, the church facility was competed and dedicated by Pastor Bobby Cutter. In 1975 under the leadership of Pastor Larry Anderson, a fellowship hall was added to the rear of the church.
In 1987, the church underwent a major expansion under the leadership of Pastor Stewart Anderson. During this time, the current sanctuary was constructed around the former sanctuary. The church continued to hold services in the sanctuary throughout the construction process. After the sanctuary was completed, the old church was torn down and carried out through the doors of the new sanctuary. In addition to the new sanctuary, five Sunday School classrooms were added above the existing fellowship hall.
Today, Saluda Church of God’s original 10 members has blossomed into a thriving church that is 120 members strong and growing. The church facilities are continually being improved, with recent improvements including the paving of the church parking lot and the construction of a new sound booth.
